The Front Porch offers music school classes, concerts, outreach programs, camps, jams, and workshops. The program includes a children’s summer camp, private lessons, group classes, weekly jam programs, free outreach programs, and instrument rental.

The Front Porch is a nonprofit dedicated to connecting all people through music, with a mission to make music inclusive, affordable, and accessible to all. The organization began in 2015 in the home of local educator Emily Morrison, and its story is described as beginning on an actual porch in 2015. Learning to play at The Front Porch involves instruction from dedicated instructors using sophisticated skills.
Through its Roots & Wings outreach program, The Front Porch extends music education into the heart of Charlottesville and collaborates with YMCA programming. Its free outreach programs bring music education and enrichment to children and seniors, and its weekly jam programs are free and open to the public, drawing players from throughout Central Virginia and contributing to a vibrant community of music lovers of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
