About

Triple C Camp offers summer day camp and overnight options, along with year-round events for school groups, scouts, and other organized groups. The camp follows a “Challenge by Choice” philosophy, where mature staff are trained to encourage campers to participate in all programs offered, with the option for indirect participation if a camper feels unsure. Activities are planned with campers in mind so that all participants have a safe, fun summer experience.

• Ages: 5–16 years old

Triple C Camp’s mission is to provide children a safe, fun experience in a traditional camp environment where everyone learns about themselves and working with others while creating positive lifelong memories. The camp focuses on adventure, friendship, fun, discovery, and challenge, and it is described as a safe place where independence is fostered and trying new things is encouraged. Triple C Camp is described as Charlottesville’s #1 Day Camp.

The leadership team includes Eryn Rothenberg Haskins (Director of Operations, Co-Owner), Kasey Massih (Director of Programming and Facilities), Ryan Rothenberg (Program Director), Molly Riddler (Assistant Program Director), Libby Rothenberg (Co-Owner, Camp Nurse), and “H” Rothenberg (Co-Owner). Staff credentials include Libby being a Registered Nurse and American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Trainer, “H” holding a degree in Elementary Education, Ryan having completed his educational program at Alderleaf Wilderness College in Seattle, Washington, and Eryn holding a Masters Degree in Sports Management.

Triple C Camp’s history dates back to 1951, when Camp Viewmont was founded by the Baptist Church of Richmond as an overnight camp for city children. In 1984, the Moore family bought Camp Viewmont and continued operating it as an overnight camp. In 1989, Rick and Pat Charles bought the camp, renamed it Triple C Camp, transitioned it to a day camp, and began transporting children from Charlottesville. In 1999, Libby and “H” Rothenberg purchased Triple C Camp and expanded programming to include year-round offerings with a focus on outdoor education. In 2023, after 16 years of experience in the family business, Eryn Rothenberg Haskins became Director and Co-Owner.

One camper, Emily R., shared that “Triple C Camp helped me grow my confidence. I tried new things and made awesome friends along the way!”
