About

Triple C Camp offers a traditional camp environment with summer day camp and overnight options, along with a focus on outdoor education. The camp also follows a “Challenge by Choice” philosophy, where mature staff are trained to encourage campers to participate in all programs offered, with the option for indirect participation if campers feel unsure. Activities are planned with campers in mind so that all can have a safe, fun summer.

• Ages: 5–16 years old

Triple C Camp operates summer day camp, overnight options, and hosts year-round events for school groups, scouts, and more. The camp’s mission states that it exists to provide children a safe, fun experience in a traditional camp environment where everyone learns about themselves and working with others, while creating positive lifelong memories, with an emphasis on adventure, friendship, fun, discovery, challenge, independence, and trying new things. Triple C Camp is described as Charlottesville’s #1 Day Camp and has a focus on outdoor education.

The leadership team includes Eryn Rothenberg Haskins (Director of Operations, Co-Owner), Kasey Massih (Director of Programming and Facilities), Ryan Rothenberg (Program Director), Molly Riddler (Assistant Program Director), Libby Rothenberg (Co-Owner, Camp Nurse), and “H” Rothenberg (Co-Owner). Triple C Camp’s history dates back to 1951, when Camp Viewmont was founded by the Baptist Church of Richmond as an overnight camp for city children. In 1984, the Moore family bought Camp Viewmont and continued its operation as an overnight camp. In 1989, Rick and Pat Charles bought the camp, renamed it Triple C Camp, transitioned it to a day camp, and began transporting children from Charlottesville. In 1999, Libby and “H” Rothenberg purchased Triple C Camp and expanded programming to include year-round offerings with a focus on outdoor education. In 2023, after 16 years of experience in the family business, Eryn Rothenberg Haskins became Director and Co-Owner.

Triple C Camp hosts year-round events for school groups, scouts, and more. One camper, Emily R., shared, “Triple C Camp helped me grow my confidence. I tried new things and made awesome friends along the way!”
