Fairfax County Park Authority Camps and Classes

Fairfax County Park Authority Camps and Classes offers a variety of programs at recreation centers, golf courses, historic sites, and water-based facilities. Adapted Recreation programs are available, and part-time, year-round lifeguards work at nine recreation centers across the county. Park Authority golf courses provide comprehensive classes and practice facilities throughout the year.

The program operates under the Fairfax County Park Authority, led by Executive Director Jai Cole. Its mission is to enrich quality of life for all members of the community through a park system that supports a healthy environment, preserves natural and cultural heritage, offers recreational experiences, and promotes healthy lifestyles. The Fairfax County Park Authority Board has honored 21 individuals as 2026 Outstanding Volunteers for their service to the park system. The agency has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy with a Better Project Award for an energy savings performance contract at Franconia Recreation Center, and Laurel Hill Golf Club has been named the second best golf course in Fairfax County in the 2026 FFXnow Readers’ Choice rankings. At Franconia Recreation Center, the energy savings performance contract modernized HVAC, boilers, pool systems, advanced controls, and the building envelope into one efficient system, resulting in more than 360,000 kWh in guaranteed annual energy savings and about 20% annual cost savings.
