Fairfax County Park Authority Camps and Classes offers a wide range of activities, including outdoor recreation such as hiking, fishing, and boating, as well as nature and history programs. The program includes fine arts and crafts, dance, performing arts, martial arts, gardening, dog training with agility and obedience, ice skating, swim, and exercise classes. Families can also find programs at Frying Pan Farm Park with equestrian lessons and old-fashioned fun, water parks and spray grounds, nature classes, historic site programs, adapted recreation programs, merit badge programs, and year-round golf classes and practice facilities, with online browsing and registration available through Parktakes Online.

The program is led by Executive Director Jai Cole. Its mission is to enrich quality of life for all members of the community through an enduring park system that provides a healthy environment, preserves natural and cultural heritage, offers recreational experiences, and promotes healthy lifestyles. Community involvement includes Friends Groups, the Mastenbrook Volunteer Matching Fund Grant Program, Volunteer Park Volunteer Teams, peer-nominated Outstanding Volunteers, and partnerships with residents and community leaders. The Park Authority has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy with a Better Project Award for an energy savings performance contract at Franconia Recreation Center, and Laurel Hill Golf Club was named the second best golf course in Fairfax County in the 2026 FFXnow Readers’ Choice rankings.
