About
Creative Cauldron Classes and Camps are part of Creative Cauldron’s educational programs in drama and visual arts for youth ages 4 and up. The program includes original musicals that are created by Founder and Producing Director Laura Connors Hull together with teaching artists such as composer Matt Conner and scenic designer Margie Jervis. Many of these productions are completely original works developed within the program.

Creative Cauldron was founded by Producing Director Laura Connors Hull in February 2002 and has been based in the Little City of Falls Church since 2009. Its mission states that, guided by the belief that creativity is a fundamental need of the human spirit, Creative Cauldron is dedicated to providing affordable, enriching, and diverse experiences in the performing and visual arts to Northern Virginia and the greater Washington, DC community. Creative Cauldron serves approximately 12,000 patrons annually from the City of Falls Church, surrounding Virginia counties, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and visitors to the DC metro area. The organization strives to make its programs affordable and accessible with reasonable ticket prices and enrollment fees and offers scholarships for families in need.
Creative Cauldron offers professional, affordable theater in an intimate black-box theater and runs a youth drama program described as unique and inclusive. Thirteen of its productions have been Helen Hayes Awards Recommended, including Nevermore, Cole Porter: You're the Top!, Thunder Knocking on the Door, Marry Me a Little, Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, The Turn of the Screw, Once on This Island, The World Goes 'Round, Monsters of the Villa Diodati, Caroline, or Change, Ruthless! The Musical, Blues in the Night, Kaleidoscope, Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, and the 2025 revival of The Turn of The Screw. Alan Naylor won the 2015 Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Musical (Helen Production) for Jacques Brel, Iyona Blake and Tiara Whaley won the 2017 Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Lead Actress and Supporting Actress in a Musical (Helen Production), and Sam Ludwig was nominated in 2017 for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Musical for Monsters of the Villa Diodati. In 2016, Creative Cauldron received five Helen Hayes Award nominations for Once on This Island (Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Supporting Actress – Jade Jones) and The Turn of the Screw (Outstanding Ensemble, Outstanding Supporting Actor – Ethan Miller, Outstanding Director – Matt Conner and Stephen Gregory Smith).
