About
The Youth Technology Network (YTN) Academic Enrichment Program offers hands-on activities that include an Engineering Design Camp, a 3D modeling class, and a drone camp. The program uses project-based learning, augmented and virtual reality, and the engineering design process as the basis for most enrichment activities.
Youth Technology Network (YTN), Inc. was established in 2016. It is based in Stafford, Virginia. In 2016, Bobby founded Youth Technology Network (YTN), Inc.
The program’s mission is to inspire students to “Think, Grow, and Achieve” through programs that capture the imagination, generate curiosity, and build confidence. According to the mission, through innovative and inspirational educational experiences, students of all ages will choose, pursue, and achieve a STEAM-based career path and career.
YTN provides students innovative learning environments to explore, enhance, and realize their interests in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) and career technical education (CTE). It offers customized educational activities in-school, after-school, and outside-of-school that align with current K–12 curriculums, including career and technical education (CTE). The program uses best practice instructional approaches, low and high-tech hands-on equipment, and standards-based learning activities to engage students in STEM learning experiences. YTN assists clients to procure, deploy, and operate zSpace Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality hardware and software products. YTN also informs students, educators, and parents about the availability and application of innovative technologies and instructional approaches to increase student interest in and exposure to STEAM disciplines and careers.
The leadership team includes Bobby Blackwell, President & CEO, and David Blackwell, Vice President & COO. Bobby is a retired Army officer, business owner, and currently serves as a YTN instructor and president. David joined YTN in 2018; he is a retired Air Force officer and has served in the federal government for over 30 years.
YTN partners with like-minded nonprofit and for-profit organizations in the DC Metro area and overseas to ensure its programs and activities provide youth exposure to experts with practical experience in various STEAM disciplines.
Parents have shared that their children enjoyed the Engineering Design Camp and 3D modeling class, and one parent stated that their daughter was excited to attend the drone camp and now owns a drone. Parent comments describe hands-on activities, a sequence of steps for engineering projects, engaging projects for kids, teamwork, and presentations to parents. Parents also noted enthusiastic and encouraging counselors, and one parent said the camp was not just babysitting and that participants actually did engineering.
