McLean Youth Soccer states that its mission is to provide opportunities for all players to reach their full potential in sport and in life through participation in soccer. The organization describes itself as Virginia's premier soccer program and a registered 501(c)(3) organization. It notes that the Recreation Program provides youth ages 4–19 in the McLean area an opportunity to have fun while playing soccer with other players in the area, and that in the fall and spring seasons, U6 and up players train weekly and play in a game each weekend. TOPSoccer is described as bringing the opportunity of learning and playing soccer for young athletes with disabilities.

The Travel Program is described as providing all components of competitive youth soccer for boys and girls in an environment that promotes excellence, sportsmanship, self-confidence, and respect. Within the Travel Program, there are varying levels of play for young athletes—Travel, Premier, and Elite—which increase in level of play, competition, and commitment required. All levels in the Travel Program are coached by professional coaches under a shared coaching structure and philosophy led by the Technical Director and a team of Age Group Managers.

McLean Youth Soccer states a vision to be a model club known nationally for developing players at all levels, creating a culture of inclusion, innovation and excellence, and positively impacting the community. It describes itself as a pillar of the McLean community, growing the game and providing soccer opportunities for all ages and levels. The organization notes that field status is updated by McLean Youth Soccer when the Fairfax County Parks Authority opens or closes fields.

McLean Youth Soccer is part of a collaboration in which Fairfax, Virginia soccer clubs unite to advance youth development and competition. Braddock Road Youth Club (BRYC), McLean Youth Soccer (MYS), and Vienna Youth Soccer (VYS) are the founding clubs of a new club called Fairfax Virginia Union, which is equally governed by the founding clubs. McLean Youth Soccer is joining MLS Next’s new competition tier for the 2025–2026 season and will form two teams in each U13–U19 boys age group, consisting of a top-tier MYS team and a second-tier MYS team.
