About
Play-Well TEKnologies Enrichment Programs offers LEGO-inspired engineering classes where students take part in an Engineering with LEGO enrichment program. During classes, students explore concepts in physics, architecture, mechanical engineering, and structural engineering through design and building assignments, challenges, performance testing, competitions, and modifications to projects. Core programs for elementary students include Adventures in STEM and STEM Explorations, and students work individually, in teams, and as a group using tens of thousands of LEGO pieces with guidance from instructors.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: Classes typically meet once per week before or after school for an entire quarter (Fall/Winter/Spring), and session duration is generally 90-minutes.
• Price: Pricing varies based on area, course being offered, number of sessions, etc.
Each meeting starts with a short discussion and demonstration of the day’s topic, and all materials for the course are provided each week, with no LEGO pieces sent home after class. Instructors have varied careers and educational backgrounds, including mechanical engineering, architecture, biology, art, geology, education, and civil engineering, and an assistant instructor may be added at Play-Well’s discretion. The mission of Play-Well TEKnologies states that students can create without fear of mistakes, explore fundamental STEM concepts through play, and express their creativity in ways they never thought possible, and Play-Well also offers Play-Well At-Home Videos so students can build and learn along with instructors anytime and anywhere. The organization’s leadership team includes President Tim Bowen, Vice President of Administration and Human Resources Meredith Bowen, Vice President of Operations Jennifer Gaona, and Regional Managers Mike Spee, Jessica Wall, and Michael Beddall. Testimonials from parents describe strong Engineering with LEGO classes, well-organized and fun instructors, and children who are eager to attend and build complex motorized projects at home.
