About

Play-Well TEKnologies Enrichment Programs offers LEGO-inspired engineering classes where students take part in an Engineering with LEGO enrichment program. During classes, students explore concepts in physics, architecture, mechanical engineering, and structural engineering through design and building assignments, challenges, performance testing, competitions, and modifications to projects. The program also offers Play-Well At-Home Videos, Summer Camps, After School and Homeschool Classes, Adventures in STEM, STEM Explorations, and Birthday Parties.

• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: Classes typically meet once per week before or after school for an entire quarter (Fall/Winter/Spring), and session duration is generally 90 minutes.
• Price: Pricing varies based on area, course being offered, number of sessions, etc.

Play-Well TEKnologies Enrichment Programs offers LEGO-inspired engineering classes for kids in grades K–8 as a multi-session course for elementary or middle school students. Core programs for elementary students are Adventures in STEM and STEM Explorations. Students work individually, in teams, and as a group throughout the sessions, and each meeting starts with a short discussion and demonstration of the day’s topic. Instructors provide individual assistance and instruction, and all materials for the course are provided each week, with no LEGO pieces sent home after camp.

According to the mission statement, the program strives to provide an environment where students can create without fear of mistakes, explore fundamental STEM concepts through play, and express their creativity in ways they never thought possible, using tens of thousands of LEGO pieces under the guidance of passionate instructors.

Instructors have varied careers and educational backgrounds, including mechanical engineering, architecture, biology, art, geology, education, and civil engineering. The leadership team includes President Tim Bowen; Vice President of Administration and Human Resources Meredith Bowen; Vice President of Operations Jennifer Gaona; Regional Managers Mike Spee, Jessica Wall, and Michael Beddall; and Virginia, Maryland, D.C. Program Manager Ilana Adler.

One parent, Ninotshka, described her child’s instructor as “a 5-star instructor” and noted that the children “had a blast.” Another parent, Truesdell C., stated that a child “loved your instructors” and that this was the child’s second summer at a Play-Well camp. Other parents, including Zoe L., Tom H., Michael D., and Margaret M., shared that the Engineering with LEGO class and Play-Well classes were strong programs, that their children built motorized projects at home, and that their children were eager to attend each week. The programs are not authorized, sponsored or endorsed by the LEGO Group.
