Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia has been serving youth across its region for more than 100 years. Its stated mission is “To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.” The organization describes itself as a comprehensive youth service organization and thanks its national and local partners. The leadership team includes President & CEO Kevin Will and Volunteer & Donor Engagement Coordinator Steve Gray. The program offers safe, affordable, and welcoming spaces for kids and teens after school and during the summer, with caring mentors who guide young people through programs that build academic success, healthy lifestyles, character, and leadership, and it sends out a newsletter once per month.

Kevin Will, President & CEO, states that every day is an opportunity to invest in the potential of local youth and describes the Club as a second home where “Great Futures are shaped, leaders are born, and hope becomes reality.” He also states that he believes every child, regardless of race, religion, ethnic heritage, physical or mental abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, should have equal access to a safe place to grow, quality mentors, opportunities to explore, and tools to achieve their dreams. Alumni member Caleb Jones describes starting at the Club at eight years old, experiencing academic help starting in elementary school, and being introduced to his favorite sport, football, and he credits the Club and staff with helping him stay on the right path and be the man he is today.
