The Dance School is a community funded 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to celebrating the art of dance and is located in downtown Everett. It offers programming at all levels, with classes for all ages, including Young Dancer (ages 1.5–6), youth programs (ages 7–11), teen programs (ages 12–18), and adult classes and series. Through donations and grants, The Dance School offers talent scholarships and need-based financial scholarships, with awards ranging from 50–100% off tuition, supported by tuition and additional individual, foundation, public agency, and corporate support.

The Dance School states that it is committed to creating a positive and stimulating environment in which students of all backgrounds come together, learn to love and appreciate the art of dance, and are inspired to achieve their personal best. The organization also states that it is committed to providing a safe, positive environment where all students can feel empowered, comfortable, and free to express themselves, and to providing financial assistance to students who have a desire to attend classes at the school.

All faculty and volunteers are background checked, and staff and volunteers include CPR/First Aid certified staff and a full-time administrative team with full-time office staff during all classes. The studios use sprung dance floors for safety, music is always age appropriate, and the studios follow scheduled cleaning and sanitizing. In 2006, a group of committed parents and community leaders re-created The Dance School in the same building that had previously housed the work of Betty Spooner and Mike Jordan, and since then the school has navigated and survived the Covid-19 pandemic, grown its community reach and student base, and expanded its space to be more accessible and accommodating for its many class offerings.

The Dance School describes itself as a community of people who share a passion for the performing arts and welcomes all members of the community to dance with them. As a non-profit organization, it depends on the generosity and support of the community, and it maintains a Scholarship Fund for 2025–2026 and presents The Nutcracker 2025 as part of its programming.
