About

Youth Theatre Northwest offers theatre arts experiences for children and youth. The program continues to be a place for children and youth to come together and express themselves through theatre arts, including age-appropriate social justice topics in class curriculum and productions. It also creates opportunities for discussion and theatre workshops around racial sensitivities for teens.

Youth Theatre Northwest’s leadership team includes Cory Southwell, Producing Program Director; Theresa Paschich, Managing Director; Mike Lion, Director of Production; Christy Fox, Director of Education; Anamaria Guerzon, Outreach Programs Manager; and Brian Jackson, Technical Director. The organization states that it will give a voice to those who feel invisible and will provide resources for parents about how to talk to their child about racism and other topics that might intimidate parents. Youth Theatre Northwest pledges to work towards creating a kinder, more inclusive future and states that it strives to be a sanctuary for students from all walks of life regardless of their race, abilities, gender, sexual orientation, or nationality. Free and reduced cost access to Youth Theatre Northwest programming is supported by 4Culture. The organization acknowledges that it is on the traditional land of the Coast Salish people, including the Duwamish and Muckleshoot people past and present, and urges finding ways to continue this work through paying Real Rent, signing petitions for federal recognition, and education.
