About

Lil’ Kickers and Skills Institute Programs at Arena Sports Mill Creek include Lil’ Kickers classes, Skills Institute classes, and Skills Institute camps. Kids spend time learning soccer, improving technical and tactical soccer skills, and taking part in small-sided scrimmaging and other technical development activities.

• Ages: 1–12 years old
• Schedule: Classes meet weekly for 50 minutes; Skills Institute Camp includes 3 hours of fast-paced technical development.

When Lil’ Kickers started in 1999, the goal was to build a kids’ program that was fundamentally sound and outrageously fun. Lil’ Kickers classes are carefully curated and described as wildly fun, with low child-to-coach ratios and age-appropriate curriculum. Each facility operating a Lil’ Kickers program has gone through rigorous training to make sure each child is getting the best instruction possible. Lil’ Kickers started in three Arena Sports indoor soccer facilities in Seattle, Washington, and has grown into a national franchise with more than 130 locations in 29 states and provinces, with total enrollment of over 2,800,000 kids in Lil’ Kickers programs. Nationwide, Lil’ Kickers has been a source of fun and individual growth for over 2,500,000 kids, and Lil’ Kickers helps toddlers to 12-year-olds develop a love for the game and more. Registration is always open.

Skills Institute at Arena Sports Mill Creek is where soccer takes center stage, and Skills Institute is rooted in child development theory. In Skills Institute classes, the player to coach ratio is 8:1, and players spend 30 minutes in age-appropriate instruction and 20 minutes in small-sided scrimmaging. Skills Institute Camp includes 3 hours of fast-paced technical development, improved skills and fitness inside a whole lot of fun, and a better understanding of the game tactically. Skills Institute Camp age groups are 5 & 6, 7 & 8, and 9–12 years, and all camp participants receive a free promotional Skills Institute backpack and training Dri-Fit.

The program’s stated mission is to help develop a child’s social, emotional, and cognitive skills while providing physical exercise and developing players who are good sports and good teammates on and off the soccer field.

Parents describe their experiences in several ways. One parent said, “My son has enjoyed this program more than any other he has been in, and he’s played A LOT!” Another parent shared, “They LOVE the imaginative games that are teaching soccer skills without them realizing it. It is perfect for their age. They love their coaches and look forward to soccer every week! Highly recommend- especially for those younger ones who need to start learning how to listen to other adults!” A third parent said, “All 3 of our kids have been in Lil’ Kickers because they love it. And because we could see them growing in skill and confidence.”
