Lil’ Kickers started in 1999 and has grown into a national franchise with more than 130 locations in 29 states and provinces. Nationwide, Lil’ Kickers has been a source of fun and individual growth for over 2,500,000 kids, and it is also stated as over 2,000,000 and over 2,800,000 kids in different places. The program is rooted in child development theory, and each facility operating a Lil’ Kickers program has gone through rigorous training. The mission of Lil’ Kickers is to build a kids’ program that is fundamentally sound and outrageously fun, to help develop a child’s social, emotional, and cognitive skills while providing physical exercise, and to develop players who are good sports and good teammates on and off the soccer field. Registration is always open, and the program states that it helps toddlers to 12-year-olds develop a love for the game and more.
Lil’ Kickers classes feature carefully curated and wildly fun classes with low child-to-coach ratios and an age-appropriate curriculum. Skills Institute classes use an age-appropriate curriculum with a player to coach ratio of 8:1, and players spend 30 minutes in age-appropriate instruction and 20 minutes in small-sided scrimmaging. Skills Institute Camp age groups are 5 & 6, 7 & 8, and 9–12 years, and the camp includes improved skills and fitness inside a whole lot of fun, plus a better understanding of the game tactically. All Skills Institute Camp participants receive a free promotional Skills Institute backpack and training Dri-Fit.
Testimonials from parents describe their experiences with the program. One parent from Seattle, WA, said, “My son has enjoyed this program more than any other he has been in, and he’s played A LOT!” Another parent from Lenexa, KS, said, “They LOVE the imaginative games that are teaching soccer skills without them realizing it. It is perfect for their age. They love their coaches and look forward to soccer every week! Highly recommend- especially for those younger ones who need to start learning how to listen to other adults!” A parent from Issaquah, WA, shared, “All 3 of our kids have been in Lil’ Kickers because they love it. And because we could see them growing in skill and confidence.”
