About

Lil’ Kickers and Skills Institute at Arena Sports Magnuson offers soccer through Lil’ Kickers classes, Skills Institute classes, Skills Institute camps, Lil’ Kickers camps, and the Skills Institute Soccer League. Lil’ Kickers classes use a carefully curated, age-appropriate curriculum with low child-to-coach ratios, and the Lil’ Kickers program helps develop a child’s social, emotional, and cognitive skills while providing physical exercise. Skills Institute classes are rooted in child development theory and focus on learning and improving technical and tactical soccer skills, with 30 minutes of age-appropriate instruction and 20 minutes of small-sided scrimmaging and a player-to-coach ratio of 8:1.

• Ages: 1–12 years old
• Schedule: Classes meet weekly for 50 minutes; Skills Institute Camp includes 3 hours of fast-paced technical development.

Lil’ Kickers started in 1999 and began in three Arena Sports indoor soccer facilities in Seattle, Washington, later growing into a national franchise with more than 130 locations in 29 states and provinces. Nationwide, Lil’ Kickers has had a total enrollment of over 2,800,000 kids and has been a source of fun and individual growth for over 2,500,000 kids. The Lil’ Kickers program develops players who are good sports and good teammates on and off the soccer field, and each facility operating a Lil’ Kickers program has gone through rigorous training to make sure children are getting the best instruction possible. The stated mission is to build a kids’ program that is fundamentally sound and outrageously fun.

Skills Institute Camp includes improved skills and fitness inside a lot of fun, 3 hours of fast-paced technical development, and a better understanding of the game tactically. Skills Institute Camp age groups are 5 & 6, 7 & 8, and 9–12 years, and all camp participants receive a free promotional Skills Institute backpack and training Dri-Fit.

Parent feedback includes comments such as, “My son has enjoyed this program more than any other he has been in, and he’s played A LOT!” from Suzanne H., a mother from Seattle, WA. Another parent, Lindsey B. from Lenexa, KS, shared that her children “LOVE the imaginative games that are teaching soccer skills without them realizing it” and that they “look forward to soccer every week.” Jenny C., a mother from Issaquah, WA, noted that all three of her kids “have been in Lil’ Kickers because they love it” and because she could see them “growing in skill and confidence.”
