Wedgwood Drama Studio offers theater games, creating and developing characters, exploring expressive movement and scene work, and creating and filming stories. The program also includes playground fun, arts and crafts, singing, dancing, acting, playwriting, creative drama, Shakespeare, and creating an original short film.

Wedgwood Drama Studio was co-founded in 2008, and for 17+ summers it has been creating original stories, making movies, building confidence, and giving young people a place to take creative risks, make friends, and shine. Its Theater in the Park Summer Camp at Viewridge Park is described as very popular and wildly popular, and the camp combines creativity, play, and outdoor adventure as campers create and film their own stories, including an original short film outdoors with professional teaching artists. Theater in the Park camps offer priority registration for returning families before opening to the public, and returning families get first pick of weeks for Summer 2026.

Wedgwood Drama Studio’s mission statement says that it provides quality Dramatic Arts education programming in the community for young people of all skill level and ability, and that it believes a safe and supportive environment to practice the skills drama engages is vital to a young person’s growth and education in the classroom and beyond. Wedgwood Drama Studio offers after school programs in neighborhood schools, and through Wedgwood Drama Studio, founder Christi Cruz has brought creative drama programming to numerous NE Seattle schools and co-ops.

The leadership team includes Founder/Director Christi Cruz; Actor/Teaching Artists Jesica Avellone, Shaunyce Omar, Ana María Campoy, and Megan Sandico; and Teaching Artists Shanelle Leonard and Pilar O'Connell. Christi holds a BA in Drama and Spanish from the University of Washington, has been a working actor in the Seattle area since 1998, and is a Certified Positive Discipline Parenting Educator. Jesica Avellone has taught acting, playwriting, creative drama, and Shakespeare to elementary and middle school students and holds a BFA from Boston University. Shaunyce Omar is a proud member of the Actor’s Equity Association, holds a B.A degree in Theatre from Southern University and A&M College, and is the recipient of a Gregory, Footlight, Broadway World and The 5th Ave Theater’s Subscriber’s Choice awards. Megan Sandico holds a B.A degree in Educational Studies from Western Governors University and has worked in dance education for 10 years. Shanelle Leonard received her BFA in theater and her masters in acting at UNC in May 2019.

Wedgwood Drama Studio is proud to have been chosen as a winner in Seattle’s Child Family Favorites Awards, has been nominated for Best Summer Camp in the Seattle Times Best in the Northwest, and has been voted a Seattle’s Child Family Favorites GOLD winner for both Performing Arts Camp and Break Camp. Families must download, print, complete, sign, and turn in a Release of Liability form for each child for each camp.
