About

The Kitchen at Second Harvest offers free and paid hands-on cooking classes that include nutrition education, produce exploration, and taste tests. The program features team building through cooking, Kitchen Lab field trips, and private cooking class and dinner events. The Kitchen provides the tools and ingredients for classes, and recipes use common ingredients often found at food banks, with a focus on stretching food budgets and creating healthy meals.

• Schedule: Volunteer Plus is a 2.5-hour experience
• Price: Paid cooking classes starting at $25

The Kitchen at Second Harvest includes Volunteer Plus, which combines volunteering in the Volunteer Center with tasting beers or wines and snacks. Food sampling is offered at local food banks and mobile markets, and classes are also taught at senior centers, schools, and other community locations through Classes in the Community. Volunteers help provide immediate food assistance, build long-term food security, and share practical cooking skills, including through the Nutrition Ambassador program for volunteers to teach or assist with classes. Second Harvest Inland Northwest is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Testimonials from participants mention going meatless at least once a week and replacing store-bought salad dressing with Greek yogurt.
