The program is bilingual in English and Spanish and is offered year round. Everyday activities integrate Spanish and are based on Dr. Montessori’s philosophy, and Spanish is integrated into each lesson every day. Class is mostly in Spanish in an immersed setting, and children learn Spanish through games, songs, music, art projects, and gardening. The Montessori classroom is composed of five academic areas: practical life, sensory perception, language, geography, and science/math, and the classroom includes opportunities for independence and natural spontaneous exploration while including social, emotional, and academic development. The program has a maximum of 12 children with one teacher for every six children, and a bilingual native Spanish speaker teacher will only talk in English for safety reasons. The program strongly encourages parents to start their child’s Montessori education as early as two and a half years old and recognizes a “window of opportunity” for language between birth and 10 years old. The program states that it offers more than a day care by providing a learning environment to foster creativity, emotional wellbeing, and intellect.

Gardening activities include designing, planting, maintaining, and harvesting gardens, as well as preparing and sharing food from the garden. Children also work cooperatively in groups and create art and stories inspired by gardens. Cooking activities include applying reading, math, and chemistry, and yoga is offered specifically for children.

Alejandra Paz is the lead teacher, has a master’s degree in finance, and earned a teaching degree from AMS. The leadership team also includes Sandra Luz Delgado and Hailey Luna as native speaker assistants. The program lists a teaching degree from AMS for Alejandra Paz as a credential.

The mission of Bamboo Montessori Spanish Bilingual Preschool and Kindergarten is to offer an enriched environment that responds to each child’s uniqueness with love, compassion, and respect, to encourage children to develop their maximum potential so that they can be agents for positive change in the world, and to build a Christ-centered community. Each month, one human value such as honesty, compassion, kindness, or respect is highlighted and reinforced. The program states that it does not discriminate against race, color, nationality, ethnicity, marital status, gender, sexual orientation, class, age, or religion.
