Orion Fencing

Orion Fencing offers fencing through group classes, private lessons, and Introduction to Fencing classes. The program includes para fencing camps and wheelchair fencing, and students have access to a weight room as part of the facility.

• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Open Monday–Friday from 3pm–9pm and Saturday from 11am–9pm, with future Introduction to Fencing classes on Tuesdays and Saturdays

Orion Fencing is a three sport fencing club with classes for all three weapons used in modern fencing: foil, epee, and sabre, and offers classes for all skill levels. The club provides all the gear students need to practice and compete, with no purchase necessary, and all gear is washed and sanitized after every use. Every student is invited to attend their first fencing class free of charge, and the youngest current student is 3 years old while the eldest is 93 years old.

Orion Fencing has one primary goal: to make fencing accessible to anyone who wants to try it. The club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit fencing club and, with the help of members and supporters, offers high quality fencing instruction to all people regardless of income or ability. Donations go toward buying new up-to-date equipment, arranging tournaments and events, and providing scholarships to athletes who cannot afford tuition. They regularly host national and international para fencing camps and are equipped with one of the largest wheelchair fencing setups for para-athletes in the USA, with a wheelchair setup for para-athletes across all ages and fitness ranges.

Orion’s head coach, Justin Meehan, is an internationally certified wheelchair fencing referee and a nationally recognized wheelchair fencing coach. The club outgrew the space it called home for 10 years and moved to a larger and more spacious building. The facility hosts four separate ADA compliant restrooms, two with accessible showers, and has an open floor plan for easy access to all aspects of the facility, including the weight room.
