Orion Fencing is a 501(c)(3) non-profit fencing club and a three sport club. The club regularly hosts National and International Para Fencing Camps and is equipped with one of the largest wheelchair fencing setups for para-athletes in the USA. The facility was designed with accessibility in mind, including four separate ADA compliant restrooms, two with accessible showers, and an open floor plan with access to all areas, including the weight room. Orion Fencing has had several blind fencers and has fencers across all ages and fitness ranges. The program’s primary stated goal is to make fencing accessible to anyone who wants to try it. Orion’s head coach, Justin Meehan, is an internationally certified Wheelchair Fencing Referee and a nationally recognized Wheelchair Fencing Coach. The club outgrew the space it used for 10 years and moved to a larger and more spacious building. As a non-profit, Orion Fencing uses donations to buy new equipment, arrange tournaments and events, and provide scholarships to athletes who cannot afford tuition.
