Wisconsin Swim Academy offers swimming lessons, infant and toddler swimming lessons, and summer camps. All swim lessons use a maximum of 3 students to 1 instructor, with private lessons available upon request. Lessons are 30-minute classes led by a crew of lifeguard-certified instructors.

Wisconsin Swim Academy is led by owner Susie Van Ekeren, who began teaching swim lessons from her backyard in 2008 to earn money to pay for a pool heater and, 20 years later, still teaches with the same focus on kids learning new skills. The program has over 60 swim instructors with almost 180 years of combined swim experience and works with over 1,000 kiddos. Wisconsin Swim Academy is a Certified Member of the United States Swim School Association (USSSA), which has over 400 member schools in 39 states and 16 countries worldwide. The program states that all swim lessons are taught with a loving, gentle approach that starts with earning a child’s trust and then building their confidence, with safety as a priority and the belief that confident swimmers are safe swimmers. Families can download the Wisconsin Swim Academy app to register for classes, submit absences, request make-up lessons, and see current updates, and make-up classes are available with 30 days to schedule a make-up swim lesson. In its early days, the owner served fresh-baked bread and coffee or tea to moms every day as a treat. One parent, Brandon B., shared that their 6-year-old and 4-year-old both attend and that their daughter, who had been scared to put her head under water, was swimming under water after one session. Another parent, Lindsey, noted that their family has been taking lessons for almost a year, that lessons are individualized with only 2 kids per lesson in their experience, and that instructors have been knowledgeable, friendly, and focused on helping children be comfortable in the water and with their skills.
