About

Middle School STEAM Summer Camps offers hands-on activities such as designing, building, and programming robots, customizing robots with 3D-printed parts, logo design, and creating a webpage. Campers take part in friendly robot challenges, document their journey through photography and videography, and use tools like p5.js to draw, animate, and interact with art in Creative Coding: Code + Math = Art. Other activities include DNA extraction, amplifying DNA with PCR, cutting DNA with restriction enzymes, separating DNA fragments using gel electrophoresis, and creating a DNA fingerprint, as well as cut-paper animation, stop-motion storytelling, injection molding, silicone mold making, epoxy casting, blow molding, thermoforming, claymation, comic creation, and preparing work for print and showcase events.

RISE Camp focuses on robotics-inspired STEAM exploration, and STEAM Sampler Camp offers different themed activities each day, including Creative Coding, DNA Detectives, Cut-Paper Animation, and Molded by Design. Stop-Motion Studio: Claymation Camp culminates in a Camper Showcase for family and friends, and Comics Studio: From Idea to Print Camp ends with publication in a class anthology produced in UW-Stout’s Digital Process Lab.

More than 600 scholarships are available in a single year, supported by corporate and private donors, partner school districts, and state and national grants. More than 500 scholarships are offered to Wisconsin students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch through funding from the Wisconsin DPI’s Precollege Scholarship Program Grant. Partial to full scholarships are available, scholarships are applied directly to the student’s account instead of using coupon codes, and payment plans are available. School districts are invited to partner to provide scholarships for their students, and donors can support the scholarship fund. Tiffany Hoage is the contact for school districts interested in partnering to provide scholarships for their students.
