About
High School STEAM Summer Camps offers hands-on activities such as designing, building, and programming a robot, customizing a robot with 3D-printed parts, and working on game design, level design, storytelling for games, creating game art, coding and programming gameplay mechanics, and developing a playable game prototype. Campers also take part in logo design, webpage creation, photography, videography, filmmaking, and creating a completed short film. Additional activities include brainstorming concepts for comics, sketching layouts, inking, coloring, using digital production techniques, creating a comic, preparing a comic page for print, claymation, stop-motion animation with clay, fashion reconstruction techniques, upcycling clothes, sketching fashion designs, draping, deconstruction, patchwork, embellishment, and interior design concept development, including sketching, space planning, and working with color and lighting in residential and commercial interiors.

High School STEAM Summer Camps takes place in studios and labs equipped with industry-level tools and technology, and the residential option includes staying in dorms and eating meals in dining centers. The program is offered by UW-Stout Polytechnic and welcomes students from Wisconsin, Minnesota, across the country, and around the world. Students entering grades 9–12 can take part in STEAM exploration camps or follow specialized tracks in art and design, engineering and technology, and science and health, with guidance from enthusiastic instructors and collaboration with peers and mentors on hands-on, real-world projects. The campus community is described as welcoming and inclusive, where every learner belongs and is encouraged to grow, and a residential option includes fun evening activities as part of the campus experience. Registration for the 2026 STEAM Summer Camps is open.
More than 600 scholarships are available, including more than 500 scholarships for Wisconsin students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch through funding from the Wisconsin DPI’s Precollege Scholarship Program Grant. Scholarships are supported by corporate and private donors, partner school districts, and state and national grants, and partial to full scholarships are available. Payment plans are available, and scholarships are used instead of coupon codes and are applied directly to the student’s account if awarded. School districts interested in partnering to provide scholarships for their students are directed to contact Tiffany Hoage.
