• Ages: 5–18 years old
Our Next Generation Programs are part of Our Next Generation, which was incorporated as a non-profit in 1993 with a mission to serve the children of its neighborhoods with programs focused on improving educational outcomes and life skills. Since its founding in 1992, Our Next Generation has provided academic tutoring, enrichment programming, and social support to thousands of students. The programs provide academic support and enrichment for students from kindergarten through high school and are designed to address a holistic view of the needs of children and young adults. The programs foster meaningful and sustained one-on-one relationships between students and their volunteer mentors and expand students’ horizons by exposing them to a variety of enriching environments and potential future careers.
High School Connections includes a structured curriculum and a safe, supervised environment for social activities, workforce training, and soft skill development. Learning Through the Arts incorporates learning through art in academic programming and develops hands-on creative workshops. During the summer, the programs offer a balance of focused academics and enrichment activities in a safe and engaging learning environment. Outbound Learning is described as an award winning program and works with corporate and community partners.
The programs build a collaborative network of parents, families, teachers, volunteers, and staff to support each student’s needs and invest students in protecting, improving, and taking pride in their neighborhood and local community. One student, Kasim, shared, “I was inspired to do this painting with everything going on in the world. I wanted to be a light, a beacon, that takes what I've learned in the past to make things better in the future.”
