About
CVA Youth Art Classes include hands-on projects such as Drawing from Nature, Animal Face Mugs, and Imagery On Clay. The program also offers free kids activities at many different events connected with the Center for the Visual Arts.
• Schedule: Open hours Wednesday–Saturday with daytime and evening options, including Wednesday and Friday 10:00am–4:00pm, Thursday 10:00am–7:00pm, and Saturday 12:00–4:00pm
The Center for the Visual Arts was founded and incorporated in 1982 and moved to its present downtown Wausau location on the 400 Block in 1990. Its mission is to engage people in the visual arts and add to the livability of the Wausau regional community. It is one of the leading cultural institutions in Central Wisconsin, with four professional gallery spaces featuring eighteen exhibits annually, a reputable school of art, and a juried gallery shop, and its galleries are admission-free. The organization frequently collaborates with community groups such as the Marathon County Historical Society, Women’s Community, Neighbor’s Place, Blessings in a Backpack, and the Wisconsin Valley Art Association, and participates in events including Wausau Events programs, ChalkFest, and Wausau’s Artrageous Weekend. The CVA has received the Small Non-Profit Business of the Year Award from the Wausau Area Chamber of Commerce in 2016 and the City Pages “Best Of…” Local Arts Organization Award in 2017.
