About

WRCT Youth Theatre is part of Wisconsin Rapids Community Theatre, a non-professional community theatre that uses local talent throughout the entire production process. The program takes place in the WRCT space, which includes the Lois Cantin Studio Theatre, an intimate theatre setting used for smaller shows. WRCT Youth Theatre is one of three youth productions that are part of WRCT’s year-round schedule, which also includes four main stage productions, Silver Foxes senior theatre productions, fundraising events, and small productions in the Lois Cantin Studio Theatre.

• Schedule: Year-round organization with youth productions scheduled as part of a season that runs on a July 1–June 30 fiscal year

Wisconsin Rapids Community Theatre was originally formed in 1975 under the name Community Company of Players. It performed in the McMillan Memorial Library’s theater for more than 30 years before renovating an old warehouse into a theatre in downtown Wisconsin Rapids in 2008. WRCT is run by one full-time staff member who reports to a board of directors. Its mission is to encourage community collaboration and well-being through the performing arts. WRCT is a nonprofit organization that depends on contributions, sponsorships, and grants, and it is a proud member of the American Association of Community Theatre.

WRCT was formed in partnership with McMillan Memorial Library and leases its main space from the City of Wisconsin Rapids under a 100-year lease for $1 per year. Incourage Community Foundation facilitated Gilbert and Jaylee Mead’s matching donation of $600,000 and administered a more than $1.2 million capital campaign in-kind, which supported the creation of the current venue. Prior to her death in 2007, Corinne A. Otto established the Earl L. and Corrine A. Otto Community Theatre Endowment Trust in support of the theatre.
