• Schedule: Office hours Tuesday–Friday, 10:00 am–2:00 pm, or by appointment

Wisconsin Rapids Community Theatre was formed in 1975 under the original name Community Company of Players. In 2008, an old warehouse was renovated into a theatre, and before that, the group performed in the McMillan Memorial Library’s theater for more than 30 years. Youth productions have been organized into the Youth Musical for ages 8–11, the Teen Musical for ages 12–19, and the HOPO Production for ages 8–18.

The organization’s mission is to encourage community collaboration and well-being through the performing arts. WRCT is a non-professional community theatre that uses local talent throughout the entire production process and states that it values inclusiveness, learning, risk-taking, and respect for all involved. Its fiscal year runs from July 1 to June 30 and includes four main stage productions, three youth productions, Silver Foxes senior theatre productions, fundraising events, and small productions in the Lois Cantin Studio Theatre.

WRCT is run by one full-time staff member, the Executive Director, Gretchen, who reports to a board of directors. WRCT is a proud member of the American Association of Community Theatre. The Meads donated $600,000 in matched funds toward the $1.2 million needed for the current venue, and the Earl L. and Corrine A. Otto Community Theatre Endowment Trust supports ongoing productions and programming.

WRCT was formed in partnership with McMillan Memorial Library and partners with many other organizations in the community. The WRCT space is leased from the City of Wisconsin Rapids, and Incourage Community Foundation administered the more than $1.2 million capital campaign in-kind and was involved in arranging a 100-year lease for the main WRCT space from the City of Wisconsin Rapids for $1 per year. WRCT is dependent on contributions, sponsorships, and grants and relies on the generosity of patrons to continue bringing live theatre to the Wisconsin Rapids area.
