Pro Skills Basketball was founded in 2009 by former Davidson Wildcats and overseas professional players Logan Kosmalski and Brendan Winters, and in 2024 has over 200 club teams in more than 30 U.S. cities. The Phoenix program is led by Co-Directors Mark Schumaker and Zach Washut. Coach Schumaker is entering his 16th season coaching high school basketball and 9th as a varsity coach, has led the Desert Mountain Wolves to five straight playoff appearances, has over 100 wins, has coached over 17 college-level players, won a state championship as a guard at Thunderbird High School, holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona and a master’s degree from Grand Canyon University, and as of 2022 is the Head Varsity Boys Basketball coach at Paradise Valley High School and a special education teacher on campus. Coach Washut is entering his 14th year coaching high school basketball and 8th as head coach at Cactus Shadows, became the all-time winningest head coach in Falcon basketball history in 2022 after surpassing 100 wins, has led the Varsity Falcons to a 120–57 record over seven seasons with state playoff appearances in 13 of 14 seasons including a final four trip in 2013, and has been coaching or working in basketball operations for 17 years, including working for the University of Arizona men’s basketball program and Hall of Fame Coach Lute Olson from 2004–2006; he graduated from the University of Arizona in 2006.

Club basketball teams in this program are instructed by experienced and knowledgeable coaches who are background checked, first aid and child safety trained, PSB trained and certified, and USA Basketball licensed. Pro Skills Basketball’s mission is to change the culture of youth basketball and to prepare players for the next level of their basketball careers while also teaching life lessons, with an emphasis on “skills for basketball, skills for life, skills for success.” The organization describes PSB Phoenix as “Arizona’s professional basketball club,” “The Professional Youth Basketball Experience,” and a “@jrnba Flagship Org,” and states that club teams are competitive teams for intermediate to advanced boys and girls in grades 2–11, with a focus on the improvement of individual players rather than simply winning championships. The program lists comprehensive development elements including team practices and games, camps and clinics, optional skill workouts, college recruiting guidance, and F.O.C.U.S. Life Skills, along with organized parent communication supported by full-time staff, a detailed team handbook, and tech tools and platforms.

In 2017, Pro Skills Basketball was recognized by the Jr. NBA as one of the top 18 youth basketball organizations in the U.S. and was invited to join the Jr. NBA Flagship Network, and the organization notes that over 270 PSB alumni have gone on to play in college and beyond. PSB states that youth basketball is often disorganized and focused solely on winning, and that it strives to offer a more professional experience centered on organized communication, fun, mutual respect, and personal growth on and off the court. The organization reports having over 200 club teams and 100 camps, clinics, and academies throughout the U.S. annually and partners with trusted organizations recognized by the Jr. NBA.

Parent and player feedback includes comments that coaches provide a high level of training and individual interest, that clinics are fun while focusing on fundamentals and building skills, and that families have had positive experiences with both teams and camps. Multiple parents describe the program as organized, with discipline across the board, strong leadership, and quality coaching, and note that their children participate in clinics, skills sessions, and competitive teams. Testimonials also mention that coaches care about player development, teamwork, working hard, and having fun, and that some families plan to stay with the club for multiple years.
