About

SC del Sol Youth Soccer Programs include the Mini Kickers program, Junior Academy program, and Competitive program, along with the Presidents’ Day Tournament (PDT) and the Desert Classic Tournament (DCT). All player programs are devised and implemented by the club’s professional coaching staff, and all players and teams follow a developmentally appropriate curriculum created by this staff. Around 50 competitive teams participate in various leagues and take part in monthly in-state and out-of-state tournaments and showcases.

SC del Sol is home to 50 teams and more than 800 male and female players of all abilities ages 4–18. The Mini Kickers program introduces soccer to the youngest players and is open to 3- and 4-year-old boys and girls, and it is implemented by full-time professional coaches who create a fun and safe environment. The Junior Academy program is open to boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 7, and the Competitive program is for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 18. Around 50 competitive teams participate, depending on age and ability, in ASA’s Youth Academy, ASA's Advanced Leagues, ASA's Open Leagues, Girls' Academy, Girls Academy Aspire, Girls Development Player League, MLS NEXT, and MLS NEXT New Tier. The Presidents’ Day Tournament (PDT) is one of the most prestigious soccer tournaments in the country and the biggest one in Arizona, and it is a stage on which thousands of players from all over the world can showcase their talents in front of some of the most respected college coaches in the US. The Desert Classic Tournament (DCT) is held in February one week before PDT.

SC del Sol has a full-time, highly qualified professional coaching staff that is committed to the development of every player in the club irrespective of ability. All staff members are present or former players who have met and exceeded the standards set by the United States Soccer Federation, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, and the English Football Association. The leadership team includes Assistant Executive Director Andy Ward, Boys Director of Coaching Pete Leebrook, Director of MLS Next Boys Alan Lamb, Girls Director of Coaching Les Armstrong, and Director of Girls Academy League Tommy McNaughton. SC del Sol’s stated vision is to be recognized by players, parents, and coaches as the elite youth soccer club in the state, the region, and the country, to define the standards for player development and coach education, to employ dedicated professional coaches who share this goal, and to be committed to developing all players athletically, socially, and academically.
