About
Offense-Defense Football Camps offers instructional football camps, girls flag clinics, combines, leagues, tournaments, and player development clinics. The program also runs showcase locations, Youth All-American Bowl Games, the ODFL National tournament, awards dinners, press conferences, a youth football convention, and a coaches clinic, along with Standard Athletic Testing (S.A.T.) and recruiting activities.
• Ages: 8–18 years old
Offense-Defense Football Camps uses NFL players and coaches, and college coaches as part of its coaching staff, and offers a progressive curriculum for all levels of play developed by NFL and college coaching staff. Players take part in non-contact and full-contact curriculum at showcase locations nationwide, with commuter and overnight options. The program’s philosophy focuses on teaching technique rather than tactics, and activities include teaching players how to improve stamina, speed, and agility, as well as learning safe, game-winning techniques, tenacity, fair play, and teamwork.
Standard Athletic Testing (S.A.T.) is used to evaluate measurables, and coaches rank and evaluate abilities using a star system. Each player is evaluated by coaching staff and dedicated regional scouts using a modified pro-style system, and athletes are ranked by position and age group, locally and nationally, using a combination of Standardized Athletic Testing, evaluations, and coach feedback. Campers receive free online access to an Offense-Defense personal, Placement, Recruiting, and Exposure (PREview) profile, and the program provides tools for building a comprehensive football profile through what it describes as an unrivaled network of scouts and recruiting partners.
Offense-Defense Sports began with one instructional football camp in the summer of 1969 and has been working with youth and high school athletes for over five decades. As the number of camps has grown, the number of NFL athletes who previously attended has also grown, with over 600 Offense-Defense alumni from camps and Bowl events going on to the NFL, and 28 of 32 NFL teams having active Offense-Defense alumni. The organization reports that there are hundreds of former Offense-Defense campers in the NFL and that it has the largest number of FBS Division 1 signees.
Offense-Defense football camps are used to evaluate the best high school athletes for inclusion in the end-of-year Offense-Defense All-American Bowl Week. Bowl Week is a week-long series of events that includes awards dinners, press conferences, the ODFL National tournament, Youth All-American Bowl Games, a youth football convention, a coaches clinic, and other events. For the All-American Bowl, 80 of the top high school athletes across the country are invited to play, and athletes who have participated in the Bowl include Cam Newton, Dez Bryant, Joe Haden, Rolando McClain, Earl Thomas, Golden Tate, and Carlos Dunlap.
The organization states that the love of Jesus compels it to serve others, that it believes everyone has been created on purpose and for a purpose, and that competing according to the word of God, by the power of God, and for the glory of God can close the gap between performance and potential.
