UC Berkeley Youth Recreation at University Village Community Center offers youth and children’s programs that include soccer, skate, and circus. Key youth offerings also include an Afterschool Program for grades K–5, as well as summer camps and holiday break camps.
• Ages: 2–18 years old
• Price: UVA Resident, 17 yrs and older $50 per month; UC Berkeley Affiliates (faculty, staff, retiree, emeriti, graduates) $50 per month; Non UVA Resident, 17 yrs and older $50 per month; UVA Access Pass fees are monthly, recurring payments via credit card at the listed rate; Effective February 1, 2024, UVA Access Pass purchase is non-refundable, no exceptions.
The youth programs are managed by the UC Berkeley Youth Recreation team, formerly Cal Youth Camps, which has been providing youth programming for the Berkeley community for more than 60 years. UC Berkeley Recreation & Wellbeing has staffed and supported the Community Center at the University Village since 2023. The community center’s mission is to provide programming and personal development opportunities to meet the needs of family housing residents and UC Berkeley students living at University Village, and UC Berkeley Recreation & Wellbeing provides holistic recreation support and services. The program promotes holistic growth and wellbeing through programming, events, and partnerships with the local community. The youth recreation team leads year-round programming and camps at various locations across the UC Berkeley campus. The University Village also has a Teen Program that centers on community development and community-building for teenagers living in The Village. UC Berkeley student residents at University Village receive free access to the facilities, and non-student residents age 17 and older can purchase an Access Pass for unlimited use of the University Village Community Center. UVA Access Passes are not valid for use at campus swimming pools, Rec Sports Facility, Memorial Fitness Center, or Anchor House Fitness Center, and Day Pass and One-Time Drop-In classes are not available. There is no minimum commitment to join the UVA Access Pass, UVA Staff search names of access pass members upon entry to confirm membership, members can request a membership card and are notified when it is ready for pickup, and membership cancellations must be received by the 25th of the month to avoid being charged for the following month. Facility rentals are available at the Village Recreation and Community Center via the RecWell website.
