• Ages: 4–18 years old
AYSO Region 13 has served families in the Pasadena area since 1972. It is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization that offers open-enrollment, no-tryout community soccer, where all children ages 4–18 are welcome to register with no tryouts and no cuts. AYSO’s mission is to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs that promote a fun, family environment based on six core philosophies. The program is guided by six core philosophies: Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, and Player Development. Every player on every team plays at least 50% of every game, and in Region 13’s Core Fall program, they aim for 75% playing time. Teams are formed each season with equivalent skill levels through a blind draw process, and coaches are trained to create supportive experiences through encouragement rather than criticism using the PIE approach: Positive, Instructional, and Encouraging. The program focuses on developing individual and team skills progressively and supports Project Play’s 8 Children’s Rights in Sports. AYSO Region 13 serves players across Pasadena, Altadena, La Cañada, and surrounding communities. For first games of the day, families are asked to arrive 30 minutes early to help with goal setup.
