About

Camp Conrad Chinnock provides summer and winter camp sessions that include at least one night when campers may sleep under the stars during summer camp. Suggested packing lists are provided for both summer and winter sessions so campers arrive with needed clothing, personal items, and diabetes-related supplies. A small camp store is available for necessities such as soap, toothbrushes, and hats.

• Ages: 8–18 years old

Parents are encouraged to enroll between December and March to receive Early Bird incentives. Teen Winter Camp and Summer Youth Sessions, as well as Summer 2025 Sessions 1–4, require all campers to be dropped off and checked in at the designated bus stop in Fontana, and drop-off at Camp Conrad Chinnock is not offered for any teen or youth sessions for health and safety reasons. Teen Winter Camp teens must take the bus to and from the Fontana bus stop, while Family Winter Camp and Summer Family Camps (A, B, and Transition) require families to drive to and from Camp Conrad Chinnock.

For 2025, Sessions 1 and 2 (teen camp) run back to back, and campers may stay at camp for both weeks, with laundry sent out to the Big Bear Lake Laundromat only if a child is staying for both Sessions 1 and 2. Campers attending Sessions 3 and 4 (youth camp) must leave camp at the end of Session 3 and return to the bus stop for Session 4. Parents are asked to send enough clothing for a week and to label all clothing, and food should not be sent in care packages, although non-food care packages are allowed.

The summer camp packing list includes diabetes supplies (with camp supplying all insulins as noted in the Session Information Guide), CGM and insulin pump supplies, bedding for a twin-size mattress, toiletries, a shower caddy, towel and wash cloth, optional bathrobe, bathing suit and beach towel, underwear and socks, comfortable shoes or sneakers, warm pajamas, flashlight, optional musical instruments for campfire, sunscreen, lip balm or ChapStick, a range of clothing for warm and cool weather, a hat or cap, raincoat or poncho, sunglasses, and a positive attitude. The winter camp packing list includes five unique “Brown Bag-it!” items to share, diabetes supplies including insulin, syringes, and blood testing equipment, one bottle of glucose tabs, insulin pump supplies, other current medications, a flashlight, warm sleeping bag, pillow, personal hygiene supplies, bath towel, heavy water-resistant jacket or coat, insulated water-resistant gloves or mittens (two pairs), warm socks with extra pairs, a hat or stocking cap, and a positive attitude. If the camp is unable to operate due to Covid State Guidelines, families may choose a refund minus a non-refundable processing fee, apply the fee to a future session, or consider the fee a tax-deductible donation.
