Founded in 2010, Creative World Art Center is a non-profit art center specializing in integrated arts education. Professional artists and educators use art projects to connect art with academic content and to support different ways of expressing what students know. The mission of Creative World is to build connections between ideas and communities in the San Gabriel Valley through art education and immersive art experiences. The organization is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and values diversity, equity, and inclusion, welcoming students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin and not discriminating on that basis in its educational and admissions policies.
Creative World’s programs include an Art in Public Schools program that brings a visual art education program, all necessary materials, and Teaching Artists directly into classrooms. The organization currently serves 5 schools in the San Gabriel Valley and is developing programs for more, and it also provides art education to local schools and non-profit youth organizations. Programs connect local artists, teachers, students, families, schools, organizations, and art enthusiasts through the Creative World Community Gallery, free art workshops, and family events.
Classes at Creative World Art Center use an integrated art approach and a conceptual focus that emphasizes creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, communication, adaptability, and problem solving. Lessons introduce young artists to new techniques and materials, and classes combine looking, experimenting, planning, and making. Students engage with contemporary and historical art, experiment with materials and creative technologies, and then plan and carry out their own projects. All classes focus on experimentation as well as technique, meet every student at their own level, and place as much emphasis on thinking outside the box as on skill-building.
