Children's Opera Camp

Children's Opera Camp focuses on learning correct vocal technique, drama and stage movement, ear training and musicianship, and part singing and choral techniques. Participants also spend time making props and costumes and learning how to apply stage make-up as part of the camp experience. The camp session culminates in a children's opera production with live music, sets, costumes, and props.

• Ages: 9–17 years old
• Schedule: Two-week day camp held each year in late July and early August

Opera San Luis Obispo's Children's Summer Opera Camp is one of the oldest children's summer opera camps in the nation. The camp features nationally and internationally acclaimed guest clinicians. Opera San Luis Obispo is the region's only professional opera company and has been located on California's Central Coast since 1985. The organization collaborates with Central Coast Gilbert & Sullivan and Civic Ballet San Luis Obispo for THE MIKADO production, led by Brian Asher Alhadeff, conductor of the OperaSLO Grand Orchestra for this production. No experience is required to attend Children's Opera Camp, only a willingness to try.
