WestBay Ospreys Basketball Club offers summer basketball clinics, open gyms, and camps, along with weekly basketball skill development. Players take part in regular competitive weekend tournament play and a 3V3 basketball tournament.

• Ages: 8–15 years old
• Schedule: Summer clinics, open gyms, and camps run between June 15 and July 24, including Session I (July 13–17) and Session 2 (July 20–24), and fall registration opens June 15th

WestBay Ospreys Basketball Club runs boys and girls programs across all skill levels, with teams ranging from 3rd–9th grade. The club offers weekly basketball skill development in a fun and welcoming environment, regular competitive weekend tournament play, outstanding development instruction and dependable coaching, organizational efficiencies that serve the needs of players and parents, a flexible format of practice and game schedules, and a stated goal of a transformational experience through sports. The club hosts the CHC SteelMike Shootout 3V3 Basketball Tournament to “Play Your Part for Mental Health.”

The leadership team includes Ryan Cooper as Girls Director and Andre “Coach Country” Pruitt as Boys Director. Ryan Cooper is the Head Girls Varsity Basketball Coach and Director of Girls Basketball at Menlo School in Atherton, CA, and has previously served in multiple coaching and operations roles at San Jose State University and as Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Notre Dame de Namur University. Andre “Coach Country” Pruitt has 16 years of coaching experience at the high school, club, and recreational levels, started as an assistant boys coach at Eastside College Prep, was head coach for the boys and girls at East Palo Alto Academy for 8 years, and is now the Junior Varsity head coach at Menlo School. Alex Boyce is the Freshman Boys Basketball Head Coach at Menlo School, has over 15 years of experience at the grassroots level and 7 years at the high school JV and Varsity level, and develops clinics and provides 1:1 personal instruction. Tim Johnson has played basketball since the fifth grade and has coached high school and AAU travel basketball for over a decade. John Gardner has multiple years of experience coaching youth basketball for Bay Area schools and other programs and is a student at the University of California, Berkeley, where he will graduate with degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science in December. Brey Johnson is in his 2nd season as the Menlo-Atherton girls varsity assistant basketball coach, coached the WestBay Ospreys 4th grade team last year, went to Palo Alto High School where he played varsity for two years, and currently attends Foothill Community College with aspirations of becoming a Division 1 head women’s basketball coach. Coach Greg Duarte brings over 20 years of Bay Area high school coaching experience, is an assistant to both the Menlo School Varsity Girls and Ospreys 7th/8th programs, and has spent time at both the NCAA Division I and II levels as an assistant and director of special projects. Coach Annette Trimble has 24 years of Head Varsity Girls Coaching experience, has led Aragon High School to three Central Coast Section Volleyball Championships in 2019, 2022, and 2023, was awarded honorary coach by the CCS as well as CIF State Model Coach of the Year in 2009, and was inducted into the Aragon High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2010.

WestBay Ospreys Basketball Club states that it is committed to the personal growth and development of its players through sport, with coaches providing guidance, mentorship, and knowledge of the game in an environment of healthy and safe competition where players hone their skills, build confidence in their abilities, and develop foundational relationships through teamwork and camaraderie, and the program emphasizes positive attitude and consistent effort as key components of any successful endeavor.

Parent and player feedback includes comments such as: “The Ospreys have been a great environment for our boys – coaches push high effort, teamwork, and playing smart!” from Sam Hinkie, former NBA General Manager and current 87 Capital Founder. Another parent, Brandon Goldman, former Arizona State (Pac-12) player, says, “Our son is loving Ospreys Basketball! Your coaches do such a good job – they are amazing with the kids!” A 5th grade parent describes the program as offering knowledgeable coaches, an impressive coach to player ratio, and a positive, growth-oriented atmosphere, and notes that it is rare to find an organization that helps young players develop in such a thoughtful way. A 6th grade parent says, “The coaching staff at Ospreys is phenomenal. Not only did they help my daughter develop her skills and confidence, but they also made basketball joyous.” An 8th grade parent reports that their daughter enjoyed the practices, learned new skills, improved her existing skill set, and that the coaching was excellent with a direct impact on her game, calling it a great experience all around.
