Brickspace STEAM Lab & Lego Creativity Center is described as a building center facility that also offers in-school and on-site STEAM programs across the Bay Area. The founder, Fary Koh, holds a Masters of Education from Michigan State University and a BA in English & Linguistics from York University in Toronto, Canada. She led Academic Support Services at UC Berkeley for 5,000 students and began a living and learning program at Berkeley created to support women studying science and engineering, and she has provided strong after-school and enrichment programs for 12 years. Classes use Next Generation Science Standards, and the curriculum is developed in-house rather than using a canned program. Programs use LEGO play and STEAM learning, and activities include both structured instructor-led projects and self-directed free-build time, with a focus on trial and error, success and failure, reflection, and breakthroughs.

Brickspace provides Lego building and STEAM hands-on programs for students from early childhood to 8th grade and works to engage, challenge, and support students of all ages through LEGO play and STEAM learning. The mission states that classes create opportunities for practicing 21st century skills, including critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration, and that lessons are scaffolded so students can build upon concepts they have learned. According to the mission, students are encouraged to use their imagination and their knowledge of engineering and science to design, build, test, and evaluate using set criteria, and they can expect to “fail” safely and come up with different solutions to problems. The mission also states that the programs aspire to help kids build confidence and develop the desire to learn more, and that the goal is to prepare campers for their future with skills like problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication.

The program describes its curriculum as teaching life skills such as creative thinking, perseverance, friendships, communication, team building, and leadership. It notes that students will not even know they are learning math, science, and engineering concepts while having fun. BrickSpace describes itself as a true community center and notes that its instructors are described as awesome, friendly, strong role models who care about children, ensure they are engaged, challenged and supported, and are fun, creative, and easy to relate to.
