Cal Men's Gymnastics Camp is a 3-day camp where participants practice on UC Berkeley's campus with the Cal Men’s Coaching Staff and current gymnasts. Campers spend time learning more skills, learning new skills and techniques, and practicing new skills while working out in the Cal gym. The camp includes training in a competitive yet supportive environment, a campus tour, and an introductory session outlining what athletes should know and prepare for in pursuing NCAA gymnastics.

Cal Men's Gymnastics Camp is led by Cal’s coaching staff, including NCAA and international-level experts, and focuses on technical mastery, strength development, and education. The camp is structured towards those who have completed or are close to completing Level 6 and above, and all Cal Sports Camps are open to any and all entrants. Campers receive individualized instruction from Cal coaches and athletes, train in an environment that mirrors the culture of Cal’s NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Team, and gain insight into what it takes to make it to and succeed at a top collegiate gymnastics level. The camp also includes an introductory session about pursuing NCAA gymnastics and gives participants the chance to experience and explore Cal’s historic campus. Due to high demand and limited capacity, prices are subject to increase as camp exceeds 25%/50%/75% capacity.
Director Donothan Bailey is a Golden Bear alumnus and former U.S. National Team member who attended Cal from 2010–14 and helped the Bears to three consecutive top-five team finishes at the NCAA Championships from 2010–12. He earned individual All-America honors in 2011 on pommel horse and in 2014 in the all-around and on pommel horse, and as a senior in 2014 he was named a finalist for the Nissen-Emery Award. Bailey is the most recent Cal gymnast to win an MPSF title on pommel horse, doing so in 2012 and 2014, and he earned bronze with Team USA at the 2011 Pan American Games. He was a member of the U.S. Junior National Team from 2007–09 and a three-time pommel horse junior national champion from 2006–08. In his professional career, he competed for Team USA through 2021, including several international assignments, and earned gold on pommel horse at the FISU World University Games, bronze on high bar at the 2017 World Championships, and two runner-up finishes on parallel bars and high bar at the 2018 U.S. Championships. In his first post-collegiate season, he took bronze on pommel horse at the Winter Cup, then gold on pommel horse and fifth in the all-around at the FISU World University Games, followed by pommel horse silver at the U.S. Championships; the next year he earned pommel horse silver at the Winter Cup and gold at the U.S. Championships. Bailey acted as interim head coach and later assistant coach for the USA Gymnastics Resident Team from 2021–22, with his gymnasts earning two national team berths, a national title, and a Pan American title. Prior to his arrival at Cal, he spent two-and-a-half years as head coach of the boys' and girls' programs at Kinetic Gymnastics, where his gymnasts collected over 40 individual state titles, eight individual regional championships, and an individual national title. During that time, he also spent one year (April 2024–25) as an athlete fellow with the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee, where he created five Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs for National Governing Bodies and was selected as the USOPC ambassador for the Chinese Olympic Committee's Ninth Annual Youth Camp in Beijing.
Assistant Coach Karl Ziehn is a Cal alumnus and former team captain and is in his third year as an assistant coach for the Golden Bears in 2026. The leadership team for the camp is listed as Director Donothan Bailey and Assistant Coach Karl Ziehn.
Parent reviews from the 2025 season report that campers had a great experience with the staff, enjoyed learning more skills and making new friends, and highlighted learning new skills and techniques. Families noted that campers loved the coaches, valued direct interaction with coaches and Cal team members, and appreciated practicing new skills along with getting a campus tour. One 2025 review mentioned that highlights included meeting the coaching staff, working out in the Cal gym with the Cal boys, and a campus tour led by current student-athletes.
