About
Camp Chrysalis, a small overnight nature camp, was founded in 1982 by two Berkeley educators and has developed a distinctive approach to environmental education, offering children rich experiences that combine recreation, learning, and personal growth. Each summer, we camp in three spectacular environments as a family of learners together: Big Sur redwoods, Mendocino coastal tide pools and Sierra Nevada mountains and focus on active study of these environments. This year, for the third time, we are offering a spring break session to Pinnacles National Park.
Camp Chrysalis has a mission to explore and learn, as well as to play and enjoy. The camp is known for its distinctive approach to environmental education and focuses on the active study of the environment and wildlife. Each session includes 36-40 campers (12 for backpacking) and ten experienced staff. Fully half are girls! Our experienced counselors offer individual attention to campers with a camper:staff ratio of better than 4:1 and is a welcoming community for non-binary campers.
