Delta Heat Basketball has a highly skilled staff made up of local educators and coaches who specialize in the development of the whole child. The leadership team includes founder and coach Drew Torres, who started the Delta Heat AAU basketball program in 2021, along with Coach Dante, Coach O'Donnell “OD,” Coach Ryan, and Coach Tre'von. The program uses indoor top-notch local facilities, including high schools, middle schools, and recreational courts, and provides custom team uniforms designed with the latest fabrics and technologies.

Founder Drew Torres began coaching in the 2002–2003 season at Pleasant Valley High School in Chico as an assistant varsity coach. He was head frosh coach at Antioch High School for the 2003–2004 season, then became varsity coach at Antioch High School after that season. In the 2005–2006 season his team set the school record for wins in a season, and that record was broken again in 2006–2007. He then moved to Freedom High School after the 2006–2007 season and served as head coach there from 2008–2019. Under his leadership, Freedom qualified for the NorCal playoffs five years in a row from 2011–2015, was North Coast Section runner-up in 2014 and NorCal second place that same season, and won three BVAL Championships in a row from 2014–2016. He resigned from Freedom in 2019 and started Delta Heat in 2021.

Delta Heat Basketball states that its mission is to provide an exceptional basketball experience with high-quality instruction and a strong emphasis on skill development and fundamental training to help prepare athletes for the next level. The program focuses on both skill and character development, including developing high-character individuals who understand the value of hard work, teamwork, and respect. Coaches are committed to mentoring players, helping them build habits and a mindset that translates to school, sports, and everyday life, and they focus on making every drill an exercise in decision making and building an understanding of the game. Teams are carefully selected to group athletes by skill level and to maximize playing time and athlete development, and the program offers a range of competitive opportunities for players of all skill levels.

Delta Heat Basketball describes itself as the Premier AAU Basketball Organization in the East Bay and the East Bay's Premier Basketball Development Program. The program is dedicated to providing equipment and apparel, including custom team uniforms that are both stylish and functional. It participates in local events, is part of the team sports community, prepares athletes for middle school and high school tryouts, and offers outreach programs to help young athletes develop their skills and build their confidence.

Parents report that their children have attended multiple Delta Heat camps, gained skills, and developed a great love for the game of basketball, with one child’s teams finishing as the number one seed twice and winning a championship. Another parent reports that a son never misses a Delta Heat camp and values the skilled training drills.
