About

Youth Theatre Works includes Friday Theater Jams where participants take part in improv games, theatre techniques, choreography, and other creative fun. The program also offers a Shakespeare’s Magic performance workshop that focuses on Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Tempest, and Macbeth, and combines Shakespearean characters with music from all over the world to create a one-of-a-kind Shakespearean musical.

• Ages: 8–18 years old
• Schedule: Friday Theater Jams on Fridays from 4–6pm, including upcoming sessions on 3/13, 3/20, and 3/27

Youth Theatre Works began in 2002. The leadership team includes Kathy Kilsby as Artistic Director & Producer, Barbara Durost as Musical Director, Sarah Innerst-Peterson as Technical Director, and Lucy Renville as Costume Designer. The mission of Youth Theatre Works is to focus on the development of the artist first, support healthy collaboration, and base its work on creative principles that everyone can contribute, that all people deserve support and dignity in their individual creative journeys, and that taking part in theatre should be exciting, inclusive, and fun. The program has an Equity Statement that emphasizes collaboration among artists from all walks of life and diverse perspectives. Thanks to neighbors at the Claremont United Methodist Church, Youth Theatre Works has a space for its Friday Theatre Jams and ongoing workshops.
