About

Start Swimming ISR offers survival swimming lessons that focus on the ISR Self-Rescue skill of rolling onto the back to float, rest, and breathe. Children work on the full ISR Self-Rescue sequence in the water, including swimming until they need air, rotating onto the back to float, then rolling back over to continue swimming. The program includes specific lesson types such as Rollback to Float, Swim Float Swim, Maintenance Lessons, and Refresher Lessons.

• Ages: 1–6 years old
• Schedule: Six-week sessions, five days per week (6wks/5days/ek)

Start Swimming ISR is led by Tay, an ISR Instructor. The program’s stated mission is: “Helping infants and young children learn life-saving Self-Rescue techniques. The Sooner, The Safer.” Lessons are fully customized, one-on-one, with only the child and the Instructor in the water. The program describes itself as “The safest provider of survival swimming lessons for children 12 months to 6 years of age.” Bookings for 2026 are now open, and booking for 2026 is now live.

Parent feedback about Start Swimming ISR and Tay includes comments such as, “We couldn't believe our eyes and were amazed by what our baby could do in the pool. We felt so safe during our lessons,” and “Tay is incredible! Her demeanor with my kids inspired confidence immediately. She’s fun, but firm... a critical balance when it comes to young kids!” Parents describe children as progressing from crying and resisting the water to jumping into the water, swimming in the deep end, and floating calmly over the course of the six-week lessons. Multiple parents state they plan to return for refresher lessons and to enroll additional children, and one parent says, “I can honestly say that my son is alive because of what ISR taught him and for that I will be eternally grateful.”
