About
Gracie Barra Dana Point Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Programs offers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes for children and adults, including no-gi Jiu-Jitsu classes and private Jiu-Jitsu lessons. The program also includes a family Jiu-Jitsu program, kids anti-bullying program, self-defense classes for men and women, women’s self-defense and Jiu-Jitsu for women, Jiu-Jitsu inspired fitness classes, Barra Fit classes, and yoga instruction. For the first class, the school provides a clean gi (uniform), and students are asked to wear comfortable, loose-fitting athletic clothes and bring a water bottle and towel.

The leadership team includes Prof. Flavio Almeida (Founder, GB Dana Point), Prof. Fernando Nassif (Professor), Coach Paula Guedes (Barra Fit coach), and Prof. Vivi Almeida (Gracie Barra Instructor). Staff credentials include Prof. Flavio Almeida, BJJ Rank 5th Degree Black Belt; Prof. Fernando Nassif, BJJ Rank 2nd Degree Black Belt; Coach Paula Guedes, a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with a master’s degree in Physical Therapy and certification as a Barra Fit and Yoga Instructor; and Prof. Vivi Almeida, BJJ Rank Black Belt with a degree in Physical Education. The program’s mission is to nurture a community of strength, respect, and integrity through the discipline of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and to provide exceptional training while fostering an inclusive atmosphere. It follows a “Jiu-Jitsu for Everyone” philosophy, with programs for all ages and skill levels, and offers a family-focused environment, a family Jiu-Jitsu program designed to bring families closer, and a special family discount. The program serves the communities of Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Laguna Niguel, and San Juan Capistrano, and is dedicated to changing people’s lives in the community through the art of Jiu Jitsu. Participants have access to a network of over 1,000+ Gracie Barra schools globally. The facility is described as a newly refurbished state-of-the-art facility, and the school was voted the Best Martial Arts School in the 2024 Best of Dana Point competition.
