About

Soundwall Music Camps focuses on instrument technique, rock music history, basic music theory, vocal performance, band dynamics, song writing, and recording theory and techniques. Campers spend time rehearsing and performing in bands, preparing for a performance, and learning performance techniques such as dynamics, understanding song form, and understanding odd time signatures. The program also includes developing bass and drum teamwork, learning how to work together in a group, developing communication skills, learning how to deliver the song in a performance, and a final concert performance.

• Ages: 12–17 years old
• Schedule: Summer session July 19–24, 2026.

Soundwall Music Camps is open to students who have a minimum of one year of playing or study experience and who play guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, and/or sing. Students are grouped into bands according to their age, playing ability, and preferred music style, and they rehearse with their band every day under the guidance of professional staff. Soundwall campers do not need to bring or rent equipment and are asked to bring only their basses, guitars, and drum sticks; equipment provided includes Mackie sound systems, DW drums, Zildjian cymbals, Shure microphones, and SWR and Line 6 amps. The camp ends with a final concert for family and friends in a 400-seat recital hall with professional sound and lighting systems.

The teachers at Soundwall Music Camps are working professionals; two are published authors, several have music degrees, and one has a graduate degree. The majority of the staff are over 30, and the instructional staff has been the same for the past ten years. The program describes itself as a unique music education program for young rock musicians that is not found in private lessons or school music programs, and it states that Soundwall students are encouraged to study, develop, and hone their craft with practice, dedication, and a great attitude. The leadership team can be contacted by email at [email protected].
