Dublin Gaels Basketball Camps focuses on basketball skills including ball handling, footwork, passing, and shooting techniques. The program includes day camp sessions and a separate shooting camp that follow a set weekly schedule in June.
• Ages: 8–15 years old
• Schedule: Day Camp Session #1 runs June 8–12; Day Camp Session #2 runs June 15–19; Shooting Camp runs June 22–24
• Price: Day Camp Session #1: $275; Day Camp Session #2: $275; Shooting Camp: $175
The camps are open to boys and girls entering 3rd–9th grade and offer a player-to-coach ratio no higher than 8:1. The coaching staff is composed of top high school and collegiate players and coaches, and the camps focus on uptempo basketball, teamwork, and positive attitude. Campers are asked to bring lunch, water, appropriate basketball attire including comfortable basketball shoes, and a winning attitude.
Dublin Gaels Basketball Camps are led by Tom Costello, the current Dublin High School Boys Basketball Coach. Coach Costello has been a schoolteacher for over 30 years and has been playing and teaching basketball for over 40 years. He played collegiately at Chabot College and San Francisco State, has been a college-level assistant coach, and was Head Coach at Tennyson High School in Hayward. The coaching staff is handpicked for their love of the game and eagerness to share their experience with the youth of the Tri-Valley, and Coach Costello is a lifelong resident of the Tri-Valley.
Among the teams’ accomplishments during Coach Costello’s tenure are 29 wins in a season (three times), DFAL Champions in 2013, EBAL Champions in 2017, 2018, and 2020, NCS Finals five times, CIF State Playoffs 11 times, CIF NorCal Open Division Semifinals three times, CIF NorCal Finals in 2013, NCS Honor Coach in 2013, and Bay Area Coach of the Year in 2020. The camp’s stated mission is to provide each camper with tools to be successful in the game of basketball, focusing on ball handling, footwork, passing, and shooting techniques, along with guidance in sportsmanship, teamwork, and self-discipline, and to meet the expectations of players at any skill level.
