Since 2018, Happy Kids Movement has been bringing mindfulness programs and camps to kids. Betsy is the founder of Happy Kids Movement. Teachers are certified mindfulness teachers, are mindfulness practitioners, and utilize effective research-based curriculum. The mission of the program is to co-create a peaceful planet by empowering kids with mindfulness and compassion. Programs are offered to kids and their caregivers, and there are scholarships, enrichment camps, and community service projects. Mindfulness lessons are delivered to students during their school day in San Diego County schools such as Oceanside and Laurel Elementary. Happy Kids Movement does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations.
Testimonials from teachers and students describe their experiences with the classes and mindfulness. One 4th grade teacher from Oceanside, CA, shared that the classes supported students and the teacher after the pandemic years and expressed strong gratitude for Mrs. Cantrall and Happy Kids Movement. A 4th grader from Laurel Elementary said, “Mindfulness helps us know ourselves and love ourselves more.” A 5th grade student from Oceanside, CA, said, “I don’t have much patience with myself. Mindfulness makes me quite patient with myself.” A 4th grader named Naomi said, “Mindfulness helps me calm when I’m stressed. It helps me relax my brain.”
