About
Integrative Learning Tutoring offers one-on-one services that include reading tutoring, spelling tutoring, comprehension tutoring, writing tutoring, math tutoring, and educational remediation. The program also provides reading, writing, and spelling remediation, study skills support, executive functioning support, speech and language pathology services, and assessments. Tutoring and remediation can take place virtually, in person, at home, at school, or in other virtual locations, with customized lesson plans based on each student’s specific strengths and weaknesses that are adjusted as needs change.

Integrative Learning Tutoring focuses on addressing the root cause of learning and attention challenges through an educational remediation approach and emphasizes developing the skills needed to do homework independently rather than doing homework during sessions. The program can serve as a home school tutor or study abroad tutor and offers completely customized tutoring programs, including both location and curriculum. A speech and language pathologist is on staff and can be integrated into custom tutoring programs, and remediation is available virtually.
Integrative Learning has over 20 years of experience in the educational therapy field. Elena Mendoza, the owner, began her career working for Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes during graduate school, trained clinicians in learning centers across the country, and later became a consultant for Lindamood-Bell overseeing training for their programs in public schools. Elena is trained in Orton-Gillingham and Wilson Language Training and has been active in the dyslexia and hyperlexia arena for over a decade and a half. She was invited to serve on the Board of Directors for the International Dyslexia Association, San Diego Branch, and in 2012, while serving on the IDA Executive Board of Directors, she co-chaired the 3rd Annual Spring Conference – Dyslexia: Understand & Interventions.
In 1998, Elena founded a private enterprise assisting students with learning differences in Georgia, and in 2008 she returned to San Diego and founded Integrative Learning, LLC. Integrative Learning is a Certified Nonpublic Agency through the California Department of Education and is the recipient of the Best of 2020 Encinitas Tutoring Award. The program’s mission statement is that Integrative Learning is dedicated to helping a child foster a sense of pride and confidence in his or her ability to read and learn. Integrative Learning is not Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes and is not affiliated with, certified, endorsed, licensed, monitored, or sponsored by Lindamood-Bell or its founders.
At the Integrative Learning office, visitors are instructed to drive behind Rancho Santa Fe Security Systems, park, and enter the office that says “LOBBY” and wait in the lobby to be greeted. The office includes therapy dogs and mascots Simon and Sophie Rey, and Simon is used to support students when they are feeling nervous or anxious, with students reading with him.
