About
Little Groms Surf Camp offers a week-long camp where kids surf, swim, boogie board, bodysurf, and play high energy beach games. During water sessions, the program focuses on teaching students to surf, bodysurf, boogie board, and swim in the ocean while also educating them about ocean safety and changing ocean conditions.
• Ages: 5–8 years old
• Schedule: Week-long camps with morning (Monday–Friday, 9am–12pm) and afternoon (Monday–Friday, 1–4pm) options, running consecutive weeks from June 1st through the first week of September
• Price: $475 for the week
The program’s mission is to provide every student with the highest quality instruction in a fun, supportive environment. It emphasizes ocean safety, beach etiquette, and proper surfing technique, and allows each student to progress at their own pace during water sessions without being pushed past their comfort level. Instruction includes specific topics such as how rip currents form, how to spot them, and how to stay calm and swim out of them; how to identify high and low tides and how they create different ocean conditions; how sandbars are created and how they affect wave conditions and currents; and stingray awareness and safety. Little Groms Surf Camp is described as a one-of-a-kind surf camp dedicated to the next generation of surfers, lifeguards, and beach kids, and it was created to get kids started with a set of ocean skills and knowledge.
Families must provide their own wetsuit. The camp provides surfboards and boogie boards, and participants may bring their own boogie board. Each day, kids are expected to bring a snack, water, and a dry towel. Calls about the camp go to Concept Surf Shop.
