The Montessori School of Encinitas is a family owned and operated business established in 2003. The school provides programs for children from 6 weeks to Kindergarten age, including an infant program, a toddler program, a Pre-School Prep program, and a Preschool Program. The environment is described as enabling children to develop self-confidence, independence, inner discipline, and a love for learning, with each child progressing through an individualized program based upon the Montessori Method. Proven teaching methods and materials are described as involving the entirety of the child in the learning process. The school is licensed to care for eighteen infants, with a one to four ratio, and the infant environment is described as nurturing, stimulating, and soothing. The toddler program continues care from infancy into the preschool prep stage, and the Pre-School Prep program serves children between 18 to 30 months or until toilet trained, in a space where the child may move around and work with the direction of a directress. The Preschool Program is an entirely Montessori-based environment prepared for children between ages 2 1/2 and Kindergarten. The Montessori philosophy at the school is based on love for the child, respect for the child’s dignity as a person, and a desire to help the child realize his or her fullest potential in society. The school describes its environment as one of serenity and respect, with a variety of equipment and material that motivates spontaneous activity and desire to learn, inner order and inner discipline, confidence and sincerity in human interactions, and people who care for total welfare and development. The Montessori classroom is described as free of criticism and competition. The mission statement explains that Montessori School of Encinitas is dedicated to the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori, upholds the right of the child to progress at his own pace in his own way, and aims to provide what the child needs for physical, emotional, social, and intellectual normal development, with a goal of promoting growth toward autonomy and a positive attitude toward school through a foundation of creative learning. The school states that its caring and fully trained teachers offer a comfortable and loving atmosphere to babies.
