The mission statement of The Music Therapy Center of California is, “There are no limits...only opportunities!” The music therapy staff are credentialed through the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT), and music therapy is described as a well-established, research-driven profession in which a credentialed music therapist uses music strategies and exercises within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals of all ages. Music therapy at this program is identified as an allied health service, similar to physical, occupational, or speech therapy, using music as the medium to work toward goals. The Music Therapy Center of California is also a provider for the San Diego Regional Center.

One parent, Andrea Moriarty, states that The Music Therapy Center of California personalizes its work with each client and describes the staff as respectful and dignifying toward every client, noting her son’s positive response to sessions. Another parent, Natalia B., reports a very positive experience and describes the music therapy her daughter receives as “top notch, highest quality,” and notes satisfaction with scheduling, organization, reporting, and educational plan building.
