The Music Therapy Center of California

The Music Therapy Center of California offers in-clinic individual sessions with board certified music therapists using research-based neurologic music therapy interventions. It also offers music therapy groups for individuals with special needs, with groups targeting social and language skills and Rock Band targeting recreational and social skills. Other offerings include customized music therapy groups, adapted lessons in guitar, piano, voice, flute, ukulele, strings, brass, and drums/percussion, telehealth, school-based programs, group sessions, workshops, in-services, and presentations.

• In-Clinic Individual Sessions — Board certified music therapists use research-based neurologic music therapy interventions in a clinic location in San Diego.
• Music Therapy Groups for Individuals with Special Needs — Two kinds are offered: Music Therapy Groups targeting social/language skills, and Rock Band targeting recreational/social skills.

• Rock Band Program — Ages 13 and up · Group made up of individuals actively learning an instrument through individual adapted lessons and interested in being in a band with peers.

About the provider

Music therapy staff are credentialed through the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT). Free music therapy groups are provided through the nonprofit community partners The Autism Tree Project Foundation and Banding Together.

The Music Therapy Center is a vendor for the San Diego Regional Center. For group sessions, a screening is required before placement; groups are based on ages, developmental abilities and goals; group size may be two to six students; a $40 no-show charge for a scheduled screening is noted.
