Children’s Museum of Discovery is a nonprofit organization with a mission to spark a love of learning so all children can discover their wildest dreams. In 2000, a group of parents in Escondido founded what became the Escondido Children’s Museum, starting as a traveling kite making program. Since 2015, the Mobile Children’s Museum program has been brought to communities in San Diego with the greatest need, and since 2000 the Children’s Museum of Discovery has served over one million children and families.
The Mobile Children’s Museum program serves communities in San Diego with the greatest need, from Fallbrook in the north to Chula Vista in the south, delivering standards-aligned workshops and exhibits to young learners in schools and early childhood centers. The museum’s influence extends across San Diego County and brings accessible, hands-on early STREAM education opportunities to families across the county. All exhibits and programs are designed to develop skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, creativity, and confidence, and include features such as the Trudy Bronner Discovery Garden and a world of hands-on learning experiences that invite curiosity and spark a love of learning.
