Established in 1968, Escondido Pop Warner has operated for over five decades as a non-profit youth football and cheer organization. The mission of Escondido Pop Warner is to introduce young athletes to the fundamentals of football and cheer within a safe, organized, and supervised environment, and to unite academics and athletics while emphasizing sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage, and reverence. Coaching includes First Aid and CPR certifications, clinics, and staff training, and coaches are trained and certified to offer age-appropriate training.

Escondido Pop Warner is part of the Pop Warner Little Scholars program, and conference fees include league and competition fees, jamborees, playoffs, and insurance, with regular season official games scheduled under the West Coast Conference and Wescon conference. The program follows a Mandatory Play Rule so all players participate, and no tryouts are allowed, with participants placed on teams. Registration fees support items such as uniforms, equipment, helmet reconditioning, coaching certifications, conference fees, field use, insurance, referees and EMTs, scholarships, photos, and general operating expenses.

Helmet reconditioning, safety equipment, and uniforms are provided for football, and cheer registration fees cover uniforms, practice gear, and equipment for games and performances. Each participant must provide proof of age with a birth certificate, medical clearance, scholastic eligibility with a minimum 2.0 GPA, and completed registration forms, and a standard photo package is provided for every participant. Financial assistance resources are available through San Diego Children in Need, a 501(c)(3) organization that helps families fund youth sports participation.

Escondido Pop Warner uses social media as its primary channel for real-time field updates, weather alerts, game-day photos, and urgent league announcements, and maintains an official online calendar that can be synced to personal calendars through an “Add to Google Calendar” button.
