Engineering For Kids of Alameda, Contra Costa, and Santa Clara Counties offers hands-on STEM activities such as building rockets, creating video games, designing a hot air balloon, and LEGO Robotics. Kids in the program may also work on electronic game design, build their own robo-arm, take core samples from a potato, attempt to land an egg, design and build a physical prototype of their own Mars base, program robots, and build with Lego SPIKE.

Engineering For Kids® began in 2009 and has grown into a global family with over 90 locations across 23 countries, and has served more than 350,000 students. Its mission is to aspire to inspire kids ages 4 to 14 and to share a passion for science, technology, engineering, and math, as well as the possibilities these skills offer in their future. Engineering For Kids® is STEM.org accredited and Cognia Certified. Testimonials describe the program as “fun and educational” and “like a playground for their mind,” and note that kids “get to learn new things about engineering each day” and that one parent “was amazed by the brilliance.” The program offers STEM educational enrichment classes with hands-on activities, including after-school programs, evening classes, camps, birthday parties, and special events, and features space-themed STEM programs such as Mission to Mars, Missions & Mechanics, Orbiters and Landers, Survival on the Red Planet, Mission to Mars with Minecraft, and Robotic Mission to Mars, using EFK’s Engineering Design Process, Minecraft as a simulation tool, and Lego SPIKE.
